Ski resorts in Switzerland Ski resorts in Switzerland are generally beautiful. Whereas France is the home of the unattractive purpose built resort, Switzerland is definitely the home of the quaint mountain village that has been transformed into a year round resort destination. For this reason Swiss ski resorts are among the most picturesque in the world, dotted with wooden chalet buildings and full of rustic charm.
Many regard Swiss ski resorts as highly expensive. Whilst this is in part true, often things are no more expensive than in top French ski resorts, and whilst the prices may be higher, the real difference is in the quality. From food in mountain restaurants to service in hotels, what you get for your money in Switzerland is generally top class.
Verbier Widely regarded as one of the most fashionable resorts in Switzerland, Verbier is home to some of the most extreme skiing in Europe, and some of the most extreme nightlife to match. With easy access to the Mont Fort glacier at 3300m there is guaranteed good quality snow all season, and an extensive lift system across 4 valleys mean that you will never get bored with over 410km of pisted runs at your ski tips. Après Ski in Switzerland Après ski in Switzerland is a fairly lively affair, if not quite as lively as its Austrian counterpart. You can be sure of finding animated bars post-skiing and many clubs and discos that become busy later in the night. Of course this varies from resort to resort, and there are always quieter places in which to unwind with a quiet drink if techno isn't high on your list. Resorts like Verbier are well known nightlife hotspots, and attract a young and affluent crowd who are happy to party from the close of lifts until he early hours! |
